Lapwing

On Monday (24th) I heard the first Lapwing call for the spring and on investigating found a pair back on the territory on the Stone Curlew plot.
What will be interesting this spring is whether the adjacent 19 acres of downland recreation reseeded late in October (with brushed seed from the RSPB's farm at South Newton, and before that from Tytherington Down) and as a consequense being nearly bare at present is whether we get extra pairs - and maybe even a Stone Curlew on the Stone Curlew plot!
Wait and see.
